Sam earned his Masters degree in Counseling at the University of Arkansas and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. Since 2005, he has been helping individuals in Northwest Arkansas overcome a variety of psychological issues affecting their relationships, careers, academic achievement, or athletic performance.

His work with adults, college students, and student-athletes includes individual, couples, and family therapy. His practice integrates Acceptance and Committment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Gestalt, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Psychodynamic, and Trauma Focused therapies to facilitate healing, growth, and improved relationships.

Sam works with individuals who face challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma, struggles with spirituality, dating and relationship issues, career and fulfillment issues, academic performance problems, as well as other issues.

Sam also works with couples to help them navigate difficulties such as dual career stress, parenting conflicts, loss of intimacy, sexual difficulties, and other challenges that hold them back from having a loving and truly connected relationship.

Sam has attended and presented at numerous regional and national conferences regarding his work as a Counselor, and frequently presents to local community groups and mental health Professionals regarding psychological issues. He has also trained and supervised graduate students from the University of Arkansas College of Education and Health Professions Counseling program as well as graduate students from the University of Arkansas J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences Social Work and Clinical Psychology departments.

As part of his work to become a Licensed Professional Counselor, Sam completed over 3000 hours of supervised clinical work. Additionally, he completed over 100 credit hours of graduate work and training through the University of Arkansas, the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, and the Department of Veterans Affairs. He is trained in using specialized treatments for traumatic stress such as Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Processing Therapy, STAIR-NST, and more. Sam has been recognized by the International Association of Trauma Professionals as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP).

Sam is a longtime resident of Fayetteville, Arkansas, where he currently lives with his wife and son.

In addition to his clinical work, Sam serves as a volunteer Facilitator for Reel Recovery, offering emotional support and fly fishing instruction at retreats across the country for men with cancer.
